GadgetroniX – Kimarishe solar pumping system (Tanzania)

Who, What & Where

  • GadgetroniX
  • Design, supply, and installation of a solar water pumping system
  • Kimarishe Serengeti Lodge, Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

The Company

GadgetroniX is a leading distributor of globally renowned solar, water, security & surveillance, and communication equipment in Tanzania. Working with a team of highly competent staff including over seventy expert technicians employed full-time, a group of electrical/mechanical engineers, and quantity surveyors, has enabled GadgetroniX to specialise in an array of areas including communication, energy systems, water systems, electric vehicles, mobile signal boosters, networking, and security & surveillance systems. GadgetroniX represents several well-recognised international companies in the pursuit of developing, testing, and promoting clean energy technologies and other services to empower individuals and businesses.

The Challenge

Providing a consistent water supply in remote areas like the Serengeti is essential for lodge operations. Activities such as laundry, guest services, pool maintenance, and staff use all depend on reliable water access.

At Kimarishe Serengeti Lodge, traditional pumping systems created challenges due to fuel dependency, higher running costs, and maintenance demands. A more efficient and sustainable solution was required to ensure uninterrupted operations.

The Solution

The Kimarishe solar pumping system was implemented to deliver a steady and efficient water supply powered entirely by solar energy. With a pumping capacity of 8.6 m³ per hour, the system supports all operational areas of the lodge.

System components:

  • Solar array: 17.6 kWp (32 × 550W JA Solar MBB Half-Cell Modules)
  • Pump controller: Grundfos RSI 3×380–440V IP66 (11kW, 23A)
  • Pump unit: Grundfos SP9-44 with 9.2kW 3PH MS6000 Motor
  • Output capacity: 8.6 m³/hour
