The Challenge

Grumeti Hills Lodge required a reliable and expanded solar energy system to support full lodge operations in a remote safari environment.

Power was essential for:

  • Main lodge operations
  • Laundry facilities
  • Staff accommodation areas

Due to increasing energy demand, the lodge needed a high-capacity upgrade with advanced storage and hybrid control systems to ensure uninterrupted operations.

The Solution

The Grumeti Hills solar system upgrade was designed as a high-capacity solar and lithium storage solution, integrating large-scale solar generation with containerised battery storage and hybrid inverter technology.

The system ensures stable, efficient, and fully monitored energy supply across all lodge operations.

System components:

  • Solar array: 40.12 kWp (64 × JA Solar MBB half-cell monocrystalline PV module – 590W)
  • Battery storage: 200 kWh (1 × Freedom Won LiTE Commercial 200/160 – HV LiFePO4 Battery)
  • Hybrid inverter system: 2 × ATESS HPS50 (50kW / 65kVA) – 3P Hybrid Inverter
  • Remote monitoring system: ATESS EnerLog monitoring platform
