The Challenge

The UNHCR Distribution Center required a stable and reliable renewable energy system in Arusha to support continuous daily operations.

Energy demand included logistics handling, warehouse storage operations, administrative functions, and general facility power requirements.

Due to the critical nature of operations, the centre needed a hybrid solar system with battery backup to ensure uninterrupted power supply, especially during grid instability or outages.

The goal was to improve energy reliability, reduce operational interruptions, and support long-term sustainability within the facility.

The Solution

A complete hybrid solar and storage system was designed and installed to ensure consistent energy supply across all operations at the facility.

The system integrates solar generation, lithium battery storage, and advanced inverter technology to deliver stable and efficient performance.

System components:

  • Solar array: 5.5 kWp (10 × JA Solar MBB half-cell monocrystalline PV module – 550W)
  • Battery storage: 30 kWh (1 × Freedom Won LiTE Commercial 30/24 – HV LiFePO4 Battery)
  • Hybrid inverter: 1 × ATESS HPS20000TL (20kW / 22kVA) – 3P Hybrid Inverter
