Burhani Solar – Educational facility commercial solar project (Kenya)

Who, What & Where

  • Burhani Solar
  • Educational facility commercial solar project
  • Mombasa, Kenya

The Company

Burhani Solar successfully completed the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of a commercial solar PV and battery energy storage system for an educational institution in Kenya.

The objective of the project was to improve power reliability, reduce operational electricity costs, and provide a more sustainable and resilient energy solution for the facility’s daily operations.

The installed system consists of:

  • 64 kWp solar photovoltaic system
  • 92 kWh battery energy storage system
  • 80 kW hybrid inverter system

The hybrid system enables the institution to optimise solar energy usage during the day while providing backup support and improved continuity during grid outages or unstable utility conditions.

The project included:

  • Engineering and system design
  • Solar PV installation
  • Battery storage integration
  • Electrical protection and distribution works
  • Testing and commissioning

This installation demonstrates the growing role of distributed renewable energy solutions in supporting educational infrastructure and improving long-term energy sustainability in East Africa.

The Solution

  • Solar PV
  • Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
  • Hybrid Inverters

Project Outcome

  • Reduced electricity costs
  • Improved energy reliability
  • Backup power support during outages
  • Reduced dependence on fossil-fuel-based electricity
  • Supports sustainable educational infrastructure
