ARE Members join high level CEO Caucus on e-mobility and battery storage in Africa

ARE Members were exclusively invited to participate in the International Solar Alliance’s CEO Caucus held on 27 August 2026 in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, bringing together senior industry leaders and experts to discuss the future of e mobility and battery storage in Africa.

The high-level roundtable, held during the CEO Caucus, focused on the opportunities and challenges involved in scaling electric mobility across the continent, alongside the role of battery storage in supporting energy access and resilient energy systems.

Discussions explored key issues including financing and investment, charging and battery swapping infrastructure, second life battery applications, local manufacturing and workforce development, as well as the regulatory frameworks needed to enable wider e mobility adoption.

ARE Members joined the discussions in person, contributing their expertise and perspectives to conversations around how shared infrastructure, innovative financing mechanisms and appropriate standards can help accelerate the transition towards sustainable electric mobility in Africa.

The session highlighted the strong links between e-mobility, renewable electrification and energy storage, and the importance of collaboration between the private sector, policymakers and other stakeholders to develop scalable solutions suited to African markets.

The CEO Caucus was organised by the International Solar Alliance as a platform for senior industry representatives to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships and contribute to advancing solar energy and related technologies globally.
