  • Security & surveillance systems

GadgetroniX also represents several well-recognised international brands, focusing on developing, testing, and promoting clean energy technologies and innovative solutions that empower both individuals and businesses.

The Challenge

Serengeti Mara River Camp required a reliable and expanded energy system to support full lodge operations in a remote environment.

Power was essential for:

  • Main lodge operations
  • Laundry facilities
  • Staff accommodation areas

Due to the remote location, energy stability and storage capacity were critical to ensure uninterrupted operations throughout the day and night.

The existing setup required an upgrade in solar capacity, battery storage, and system intelligence to meet growing demand.

The Solution

The upgraded system was designed as a Serengeti Mara River off-grid solar upgrade, combining solar generation, lithium storage, and hybrid inverter technology to ensure full reliability.

The system integrates both off-grid solar power and smart energy monitoring for optimised performance.

System components:

  • Solar array: 13.2 kWp (24 × JA Solar MBB half-cell monocrystalline PV module – 550W)
  • Solar expansion array: 37.8 kWp (70 × JA Solar MBB half-cell monocrystalline PV module – 540W)
  • Battery storage: 80 kWh (1 × Freedom WON LiTE Business 80/64 – 52V LiFePO4 battery)
  • Grid-tied inverter: 1 × Fronius Eco 27.0-3-S (27kW) WLAN/LAN – 3P grid tie / PV inverter
  • Hybrid inverter system: 3 × Victron Quattro 10 kVA 48V inverter charger
  • Solar charge controllers: 4 × Victron SmartSolar MPPT 250/100 Tr/VE.CAN
  • Remote monitoring system: Victron VRM & Fornius Solar.web monitoring
