BREAD 2026

As part of the implementation of Burundi’s National Energy Pact (COMPACT), the Government of Burundi and the World Bank Group are jointly organising the 5th edition of the Burundi Renewable Energy Access Days (BREAD) 2026, in partnership with the Alliance for Renewable Electrification (ARE).

Objectives of BREAD

For this new edition, BREAD 2026 aims to create a framework for dialogue on job creation in the energy sector in order to accelerate access to renewable energy in Burundi. More specifically, it will:

• Take stock of the progress made during the first year of implementation of Burundi’s National Energy Compact as part of Mission 300
• Mobilise additional public and private investment to accelerate universal access to energy
• Promote job creation and human capital development by strengthening collaboration between the Government, academia, development partners and the private sector
• Promote renewable energy as a catalyst for economic transformation, productive uses, entrepreneurship and job creation
