ARE highlights integrated renewable energy solutions at Global Climate & Energy Webinar
On 15 September, the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) joined a global audience for the virtual webinar “Integrated Renewable Energy Solutions for Addressing Energy, Environment & Climate Challenges”, organised by IRENA, WWF, CLEANaction, IUCN and UNEP.
The webinar brought together 382 participants from 105 countries to explore how integrated, cross-sectoral approaches can accelerate resilient and inclusive renewable energy development. Discussions highlighted the importance of community-led and gender responsive approaches to the sustainable management of land, water and biodiversity, while addressing interconnected energy, environmental and climate challenges.
ARE contributed industry perspectives and presented its work and campaigns supporting sustainable energy access and productive uses of renewable energy. The session also highlighted ARE’s work on responsible battery and metal recycling, underscoring the importance of responsible end-of-life management as renewable energy technologies continue to scale.
The discussion reinforced the value of collaboration across the energy, environment and development sectors to ensure that the renewable energy transition delivers lasting benefits for communities and ecosystems.
